ETMA to Spotlight Giving Back at Phoenix Conference with Childhelp – Spirit of Giving ETMA Members Embrace Spirit of Giving This Holiday Season with Fundraising Effort

ETMA, the Enterprise Technology Management Association, announced today that it will begin its 2020 conference in Phoenix, Arizona, with a focus on supporting Childhelp®, a non-profit charity dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect as well as at-risk children. This is the first effort in a new initiative aimed at giving back to local communities that host ETMA conferences.

“I was delighted to learn that ETMA would support the organization that I nominated. said, Nina Doherty, Regional Vice President Financial Process Automation for Corcentric and ETMA member. I’ve been involved with Childhelp for more than 25 years, and I have served on its regional board over the past 6 years. It is a very worthy organization that is doing great work to rescue children in need.”

As part of its research effort, the ETMA executive board sought to emulate the Telecom for Change model of promoting local philanthropic activity in the city in which it hosts conferences. Angie Tocco and Laura Dashney, co-founders of Telecom for Change, arranged for the generous donation of ScanSource headsets for the Childhelp’s crisis hotline volunteers so they could strengthen hotline crisis support, solve issues of clearly hearing callers and address concerns of missing important details in crisis situations. Tocco and Dashney also have proposed optimization strategies to help Childhelp reduce calling plan expenses.

Angie Tocco, Telecom for Change Co-Founder said “When ETMA approached me about their 2020 conference in Phoenix and asked that we meet with ChildHelp to help assess how together we could drive more awareness and donations, I didn’t hesitate to help. We welcome the opportunity to leverage our knowledge in combining technology, business, and charitable giving to any organization interested in giving back. Childhelp is a wonderful organization saving children’s lives.”

Childhelp co-founder and CEO Sara O’Meara applauded the announcement, saying “Over ten million children have been impacted by the work of Childhelp since our founding in 1959. But even with our ongoing work, few people realize that five children die of abuse every day in our country. That’s on par with cancer as the leading cause of childhood deaths. This year Childhelp launched a new approach to abuse treatment and prevention by adding text messaging and online chat to our 1-800-4-A-CHILD crisis hotline. As we employ new technology to save more lives, it’s especially gratifying to be selected by innovators like ETMA and Telecom for Change for this impactful partnership.”

Childhelp Co-Founder and President Yvonne Fedderson added, “Childhelp is grateful to ETMA and Telecom for Change for exemplifying the spirit of giving – not just this holiday season, but year-round. The positive impact ETMA has had on the technology management industry is evidence of this organization’s commitment to making the world a better place. And now, by extending ETMA’s solution-oriented approach to the work we do at Childhelp, this impressive association and Telecom for Change are joining forces in one of the most crucial ways – helping us empower the often powerless victims of child abuse.”

Natasha Royer Coons, Chief Revenue Officer at Advantix and vice president of ETMA, said, “As an organization of technology executives, we come together twice a year to network, elevate the TEM, MMS and technology management industry, share knowledge and promote best practices. Now, in addition to fostering a healthy business community, ETMA members have the opportunity to give back and positively impact people’s lives. We are grateful to partner with Telecom for Change and Childhelp to raise more awareness and much needed resources for children in critical need.”
