West Lake Village, CALIFORNIA – Ten years ago leaders of Telecommunications Expense Management (TEM) and Wireless Expense Management (WEM) solutions providers met to establish ETMA, the Telecom Expense Management Industry Association. ETMA’s initial efforts sought to rally market participants to work together on areas of common interest based on the premise that a rising tide will lift all boats and what is good for one member will be good for the entire industry. In recent years, ETMA has embraced its members’ moves into the technology market by recruiting participants in adjacent markets. As part of this evolution, ETMA balanced an update in what its name stood for, while it maintained its original acronym. The Telecom Expense Management Industry Association is now the Enterprise Technology Management Association. Over its ten year span, ETMA has been fortunate to have strong leaders serving as president starting with Dave Spofford from Dimension Data and its current President James Price from ICOMM.
David Spofford, the first president of ETMA and current Dimension Data, Communications Lifecycle Management CEO said, “ETMA has been a consistent voice encouraging best practices, customer value, and cooperation in the telecom industry. As the industry goes through rapid evolution, technology assessments, transformations, and management will continue to add value to enterprise customers around the world. Throughout this evolution ETMA remains relevant. Now more than ever, ETMA members and suppliers will need to keep customer value at the center of what they do, and ETMA will support this win-win vision for the future. It’s been an honor to be associated with ETMA, since its inception.”
Current ETMA President, and President of ICOMM, James Price said, “I have seen the overall health of our industry improve as members add new offerings. There is exceptional bench strength with thought-leadership within the association, and it is amazing to see competitors meet to exchange views, establish best practices and develop industry standards.” Jim Price added, “This is an important step on an important journey.”
ETMA Managing Director, Joe Basili said, “ETMA has demonstrated collaboration can positively shape the industry for members. ETMA is poised to build upon the successes it has achieved and help clients’ maximize their investments with telecom and technology providers.”
Members see challenges and opportunities in an industry that is marked by constant change. The market grows as members develop new offerings related to IT Expense Management and other areas to address client needs. Active participation at ETMA meetings and monthly calls helps firms to build value for clients through key relationships and industry best practices.
